You either love Richard or you cannot stand him. With his passionate plea to millions, he encourages others to get healthy and live longer. Sensitive in nature, Richard knows all to well the struggle to lose weight. Richard was in search of help to guide him in his weight loss efforts in 1973. After finding none, he created his own. At 268 pounds upon high school graduation, he learned to be funny and entertaining to gain acceptance. Growing up in New Orleans he struggled to fight off the traditional cuisine there, which was mostly sweets. He tried one diet after another, but did so in an unhealthy way in the form of fad diets and the use of laxatives. He finally realized his attempts at weight loss were in vain and wanted to come up with a better solution to take control of his weight problem. He then accomplished this by eating healthy and moderation, physical fitness, with a balance between the two.
Richard, a diet and fitness guru has been on numerous radio and television shows. He even had his own show, “The Richard Simmons Show”, which was on television for four years and granted him many Emmys. The proud creator of “Deal-A-Meal” and “FoodMover”, Richard has inspired so many to take action and better control of their eating habits thereby saving their lives. With too many videos to count under his belt and the author of many books, people turn to Richard and find compassion, passion, and empathy on their weight loss endeavors.
Richard Simmons enthusiasm and support touches the hearts and lives of countless people each and every day. He will not let you give up and he will not give up hope for you. He is the compassionate and encouraging human being that we all need in our lives and he understands.
