Maybe mom was wrong… it does pay to procrastinate; at least if you are trying to score a hot deal on summer travel. Haven’t booked your family’s summer vacation yet? That could prove to be one of the smartest things you’ve done in a long time. As we pass summer’s halfway point, hotels and resorts are slashing prices on kid-friendly getaways.
Here’s a look at some of the better deals:
CLUB MED
Club Med is not just for newlyweds. On the contrary, the luxury beach resort is well known for its outstanding kids’ programs, which feature a variety land and water activities. Another reason penny-pinching parents love Club Med is that the resort offers all-inclusive pricing, which bundles virtually all costs—-lodging, meals, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, plus most activities—-into a reasonable rate. And right now, that tidy rate is being slashed during Club Med’s “Wow Sale.” The sale includes reduced rates–each person pays just $99 per night (depending on the Club Med property and your travel dates) and provides all-access to water activities. The sale ends August 31st.
CONRAD AND WALDORF ASTORIA HOTELS
Thank the slumping economy for this summer sale. Right now the Conrad Hotels and Waldorf Astoria Collection are offering a Summer Escape package that gives your family one free night when booking a two-to-four night stay (the number of required nights varies by property). The list of 20 participating properties includes legendary hotels in New York plus two new resorts, the Dakota Mountain Lodge in Park City, Utah, and the Roosevelt New Orleans. The sale runs through August 1st.
Luxury resorts aren’t the only ones slashing prices this summer. Many budget hotel chains are also offering super savings, including:
Country Inns & Suites: Families can save 15% off each night of a stay of at least two consecutive nights. You also get a “buy one entree, get one free” offer at TGIFriday’s. Through September 13, 2009.
Hilton Garden Inn: If you book a Friday and/or Saturday night, you’ll save 15% off the Bed and Breakfast rate, plus you’ll get a cooked-to-order breakfast for up to four adults and all kids 12 and under. The sale ends December 27, 2009.
Homewood Suites: Save 10% percent off your stay when you book a three-night weekend stay. Offer is good through September 7, 2009.
Red Roof Inn: You can get your third night free at 14 beach locations in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, and Texas. The sale ends September 7, 2009.
