Toddler Gets Stuck in Potty

My toddler nephew has fallen into the potty more than once. The tales of his recovery have not been pretty, which is why I think my preschool daughter clings to the sides of the toilet for dear life whenever she has to relieve herself.

Still, all of my nephew’s falls have been accidental, which is more than I can say for 3-year-old Rebecca Rogers. Like many curious tots her age, the inquisitive little girl couldn’t resist peering into the toilet at her family’s UK home. Though, instead of using the commode to pee, the toddler decided it could be put to much better use as a torture chamber for her 2-year-old sister. Only Rebecca’s plan to flush her kid sister down the john didn’t quite work out the way she wanted it to, and she ended up getting her foot stuck in the toilet.

According to reports, the entire incident occurred while the girls’ father was washing dishes in the kitchen.

“I heard this horrible scream but thought the girls were just fighting as usual,” Kevin Rogers told reporters.

When Rebecca’s screams intensified Kevin says he rushed into the bathroom and found her foot lodged in the potty.

“She was hysterical,” shared Kevin.

“I tried my best to release the foot, but it was really stuck in there.”

So the young dad did what any guy would have-—he considered using garden shears to cut his daughter free, but after a few minutes he reconsidered and called the fire department instead.

Long story short fire crews used special cutting equipment usually reserved to free victims of car crashes to rescue the toddler. In less than 20 minutes the girl was released from the potty without a single scratch.

Very good news, though not the most compelling part of the story… at least in my opinion.

According to the firemen, they could have gotten the girl out a lot faster, but didn’t want to damage the family’s toilet.

How noble.

Personally, my concern would have been more with Rebecca’s well being than with preserving the family’s potty. Even if rescue crews knew her physical health was not being compromised by taking their time freeing her, I’m sure she could have benefited emotionally had she been cut out as quickly as possible.

As for Rebecca’s father, he calls the incident “a huge embarrassment.”

On the bright side at least his kid wasn’t hurt AND he doesn’t have to buy a new toilet.

Has your toddler ever fallen into the potty?
