What a week the past one has been.
Early in the week, I started fighting some intestinal bug. I had to skip the workouts for a couple of days due to stomach cramps and an overall weakness. I suppose the fact that I was living basically on ginger-ale and graham crackers and not keeping much of that in my body probably compensated for the downtime in exercise. I don’t think I gained or lost.
After a few days, I felt better and went back to my normal routine. I haven’t been able to walk or run due to the fact that it had been raining pretty much non stop for days. The ground was so wet and soft that we lost a couple of trees when their roots just couldn’t hold on any longer. I’ll probably blog about it in the Home Blog today.
Still, I am blessed with that free elliptical machine, and it is really giving me a great workout in the mornings. Having that machine just right there in my basement makes it so much easier to just do it, so to speak.
On Friday morning, we found out that one of our neighbors has what looks like the swine flu. Our kids play together, so we were a little nervous about this. Our neighbor needed us to watch the kids for a little bit so she could take her ill husband to seek medical treatment. More exposure, but what can you do? I continued to work out and hope for the best. The stress might have made me drop a pound.
Fortunately, we are still all well here, but one thing was a bit disturbing. I heard about someone who was actually seeking out the swine flu in the hopes of contracting it, since the illness would probably result in weight loss. Um, I think it would be much easier and safer to use dieting and exercise as a weight loss method; not too much risk of death, and it is a positive lifelong change. What do you think?
