More Stocking Stuffers Ideas for Your Favorite Shutterbug

My family’s stocking stuffer rules are simple: All gifts must be less than $20 and they must fit into the stocking.

These stipulations can be a pain sometimes, especially when your husband has his eye on an expensive Dremel (it meets the size requirement, but not the budget) or your wife desperately wants a Dyson for Christmas.

However, if your loved one is an avid photographer, there are many compact-sized, budget-friendly items available that make wonderful stocking stuffers, including:

CAMERA BAG

Camera bags come in all shapes and sizes, but I prefer using the compact ones for everyday shooting. A nice lightweight bag is ideal for family shutterbugs, who don’t have an arsenal of filters, lenses and tripods. There are bags to accommodate mass amounts of photo equipment, but most casual photographers don’t need them. A small, inexpensive camera bag that has room for a standard size digital camera, spare batteries, spare memory cards and a few other essentials is a welcome gift for any photographer.

MINI TRIPOD

I consider tripods to be essential photo gear. They are fundamental pieces of equipment, but they don’t have to break the bank. New mini tripods make ideal stocking stuffers because of their size, efficiency and reasonable price tag.

WIRELESS REMOTE SHUTTER RELEASE

Wireless remote shutter releases are fairly new to the market. They are designed to keep your camera (and shot) as steady as possible. The remote allows you to snap a picture without touching your camera. The device is perfect for shooting self-portraits or group shots when there is no one around to take the photo. The wireless remote also comes in handy for photographers who don’t want to inadvertently blur a shot by pressing on the shutter release.

OTHER GEAR

Lens cloths are cheap stocking stuffers that appeal to photographers of all skill levels. If your budget is a bit more flexible, then you could consider purchasing a camera maintenance kit for your favorite shutterbug. Rain gear is also a great gift. It protects your camera from the elements when you are shooting outdoors.
