Retail reward programs can be a great way to save money and get things for nothing. There are so many different rewards programs out there that taking advantage of them can be both easy and difficult. It is easy, since there are so many to find, but it is also hard because you have to weed through all of the different rules and possible fees that go with them.
First, let us talk about credit card rewards. All of the major bank credit cards can carry rewards, from travel miles to Disney Store points, cash back and merchandise. American Express is known for some great rewards and offer some of the highest returns. They also usually require an annual fee.
To take the most advantage of these types of retail rewards it is best to identify your goals. If you want to save for a vacation, for example, you’ll want to use your Disney card or airline rewards card whenever you shop. Make sure to pay it off each month so you don’t cancel out the advantage of using it.
Retail stores, pharmacies and grocery stores all offer rewards cards. Basically these cards offer sales or discounts on merchandise, and they may also offer points or extra cash or credit that can be used on future purchases. Stores like CVS also offer instant rebates that give you full credit for the entire amount of purchase on certain products that vary by week.
To get the most out of this type of rewards, pay attention to the deals each week and concentrate your shopping at those stores that give you the most for your dollar. Often you can combine coupons with your reward card for even more savings.
Whenever you use a retail reward program make sure that you keep track of any expiration dates. Points and rewards can often expire before you use them.
