Do you have any books laying around that you aren’t reading? Even if you don’t I can give you some ways that you can still benefit and even make money with books. Here is how.
Used Book Stores
If you have a lot of popular books, head over to your local used book store and exchange them for cash. This is a quick way to make some money on books that you have read and are done with. Expect to earn between $.50 and $3 per book, depending on the type, author etc.
Rare Book Store
If you have some older books, check with a rare book store either online or locally. I have a friend who has made $30- $100 per pop on unusual or older books this way. It requires that you do some research, but most of the time, you can simply check online to see if your particular books are worth more than the usual amount of money.
Online Auctions
You can often make pretty good money by auctioning off your books when you sell them as a complete lot. Children’s books do particularly well this way, which is good, because you often don’t make money with them elsewhere, unless they are rare.
Where to Get Books
If you go through your book collection, chances are that you may find some books that you have already read and are really not going to read again. Start at home.
Ask friends and family if they have books that they no longer want. You may be surprised with boxes and boxes of them.
Shop for books at yard sales. Offer to buy the entire collection, and you’ll get a great price. A large box of children’s books bought for $4 to $5 can be turned into $25 to $40.
Go curb shopping for books. It is amazing how many people throw away books that are in excellent condition. One friend of mine makes a nice little income simply by curb shopping books and then selling them online.
