Earth Day is rapidly approaching. It is the 40th anniversary and you may be wondering “What can I do?” This could be an excellent way to kick off the start of living a greener life.
Here are a few tips that will help you make a difference on April 22 and every other day of your life:
1. Replace all your old light bulbs with LED or CFL light bulbs.
2. Carry reusable bags to the grocery store rather than using paper or plastic.
3. Buy locally grown produce whenever possible.
4. Lower the thermostat.
5. Turn off lights and unplug electronics when not in use.
6. Use public transportation, walk, bike, or carpool to get where you need to go.
7. Don’t bag your grass – let it stay on the lawn to decompose.
8. Read the labels of pesticides to see what you are really putting on your plants and consider to switching to a greener alternative.
9. Insulate your attic, including the stair cover.
10. Switch to recycled paper products such as toilet paper, paper towels, and napkins.
11. Replace your current showerhead with a low flow showerhead.
12. Turn off the water when brushing your teeth.
13. Turn off the car instead of letting it sit idle.
14. Use both sides of the paper when printing.

16. Wash your laundry in cold water.
