It has been the best of times and the worst of times for Sandra Bullock this year. She not only got her first Academy Award nomination, but won Best Actress. She seemed on top of the world with her biker husband Jesse James by her side. But just days after her win, a cheating scandal exploded into the media and since then, multiple James mistresses have spoken out.
Bullock has been in hiding for the most part, although friends like George Lopez have visited her. Now we found out that maybe she had something else on her mind other than her husband’s infidelity.
PEOPLE is reporting that Bullock is adopting a 3 1/2 month old baby boy she named Louis Bardo. Four years ago, the couple began the adoption process and brought Louis home this past January from New Orleans, where he was born. But, they decided to keep it a secret until after the Oscar hoopla. I guess the infidelity hoopla outweighed the adoption announcement, so we are just now learning about it.
Of the baby, Bullock said, “He’s just perfect, I can’t even describe him any other way. It’s like he’s always been a part of our lives.”
And by “our,” I would assume she was not speaking about James. Bullock told PEOPLE in the same interview “Yes, I have filed for divorce.” Because the adoption is not finalized, Bullock says she will now adopt as a single parent. She said she is “sad and scared,” but will end the five year marriage, despite James’ seeking treatment for “personal issues.”
What was James’ reaction to the divorce announcement? He released a statement which read, “The decision to let my wife end our marriage, and continue the adoption of Louis on her own, has been the hardest. The love I have for Louis cannot be put to words. Not having him around to love and to hold has left a huge hole in my heart.”
He went on to say Bullock was the “love of my life” but considering the pain he had caused her, it would be “selfish to not let her go.”
James went on to say he is going to “beat the addiction that has taken two of the things I love the most in life.” He also asked people not to judge Bullock, saying she had “done no wrong” and is an “amazing wife, mother, and best friend.”
