Simple Things Work

Eucalyptus oil is one of those commodities no home should be without. Eucalyptus oil for me brings back memories of childhood. When I was a child, my mother put it on the pillow at night whenever I had a cold. She also put it on handkerchiefs. It’s something I did with our children when they were young too. All these years later I still use a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil on the pillow to help me breathe, when I have a cold or flu. It seems to clear the nose like nothing else does.

The other way to use is, 15-20 drops of eucalyptus oil added to boiling water and inhale. This works best if the head is encased in a towel over the bowl. Being a person who can’t stand having things over my face, I’d rather stick with my tried and true family method.

That’s not the only use for eucalyptus oil though. It is also useful for massaging into ache and pain areas.

Another use is removing residue from stickers. You know the annoying sticky reside that is left when you try and remove the stickers from some stores? Next time try rubbing it with little eucalyptus oil – much less hassle.

You can even use eucalyptus oil to clean you floors and bathroom tiles. Two capfuls of oil added to a bucket of water will do the trick, leaving your floor and tiles not only looking clean but making them free from germs and bacteria. An added bonus is the fresh smell that lingers.

Sometimes it’s just simple old remedies that work best. Try this one for bathroom mirrors. No, not using eucalyptus oil this time but common soap. To stop your mirrors steaming up, rub a bar of dry sop over the mirror surface. Then rub with a clean cloth. Do this on a regular basis and you will no longer have to worry about mirrors steaming up.
