Attention all you penny-pinching travelers: Uncle Sam wants you to take a vacation on him.
During the weekend of August 14-15, more than 100 national parks will be waiving entrance fees so that visitors can enjoy the beauty and splendor of these natural treasures without breaking the bank. In addition, many national park concessionaires will be offering money-saving specials during the weekend, including discounts and coupons for rooms, tours and products.
You and your family can take advantage of the free weekend at the following national parks:
*Grand Canyon in Arizona
*Yosemite in California
*Rocky Mountain in Colorado
*Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii
*Acadia in Maine
*Glacier in Montana
*Badlands in South Dakota
*Arches, Bryce and Zion in Utah
*Shenandoah in Virginia
*Mount Rainier and Olympic in Washington
*Yellowstone, with entrances in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming
If you can’t make it out for the free fun on August 14-15, you’ll get a second chance on September 25th and November 11th.
Meanwhile, if you plan to visit the House of Mouse in the near future, plan on digging a bit deeper into your pocketbook. Getting into a Disney theme park will cost you a little more beginning today.
Disney just announced that ticket prices are going up at Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California. Starting today, the cost of a one-day adult ticket price at Walt Disney World will increase to $82, up $3 from $79. In addition, the new six-day pass is now $242, or $40.33 a day, up from $38.50 a day. Park Hopper add-ons went up to $54, from $52.
Getting into Disneyland will cost you $76, up from $72. Meanwhile, a one-day Park Hopper pass is now $101, up from $97. Parking at Disneyland Resort also went up a dollar to $15 a day.
