Dilemma: Baby Food Storage

When I decided to make my own baby food, I didn’t go out to buy any special materials. Sure, there are some handy do-it-yourself baby food kids, but I couldn’t justify spending the money on them. I use my own pots to steam the vegetables, puree them in a regular small food processor, and store them in regular Tupperware.

The Tupperware is where I ran into some problems.

Our refrigerator is usually jam-packed with food and drinks. Don’t ask me why, because I couldn’t tell you. It’s just my husband , daughter, and me. What are we going to do when we have a house full of teenagers?

At any rate, add regular-sized Tupperwares of baby food to the mix, and there’s a problem.
It would be one thing if the Tupperwares were actually full of baby food. That would make sense. That would be a logical use of space. But no, they rarely are. More often than not, the baby food takes up a tiny corner of the Tupperware. The rest is wasted space.

My husband just LOVES pulling three different Tupperwares out of the frig, each containing a quarter of a cup of food. He doesn’t understand that mixing pears, green beans, and chicken is gross. Okay, maybe not that gross, but I don’t like doing it. I like keeping them separate.

I’ve been searching for small Tupperwares sold separately from the large variety. We still have 2 unopened sets of Tupperware in storage in the basement left over from our wedding, so we definitely do not need to buy another full set.

As I was walking through Walmart the other day, the heavens parted, and beams of sunlight shone down on an end display. I began to dance. Birds began to sing. I broke out into a joyous rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus.

Not really, but it was just about as exciting. GladWare had found the solution to my problems. Yes, GladWare makes round, four-ounce containers. Sold separately from larger containers. In packs of eight. For less than $3 a pack. HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH!

If you thought the news couldn’t possibly get better, think again: the lids snap together. Yes, snap together. They are small, but they are easy to find.

Even if you are not making baby food, go buy a set of these for the simple fact that they are cute.

Goodbye, cluttered refrigerator. Hello, GladWare!
