As a genealogy blogger, I may be biased, but I am probably not the only person that thinks that there is a lot of great genealogy information that can be found by reading genealogy blogs. Today’s post is dedicated to a few great genealogy blogs that you may want to check out.
1. FamHist is a great blog by
LineageKeeper, with many interesting personal stories as well as
reviews of resources and genealogy tips. I really like the variety of
information that is on this blog. LDS researchers should definitely
check out this blog, as there is quite a bit of LDS information there.
2. Photo Detective is an
interesting blog with information about old family photos. There are
a lot of great examples of historic photographs on the site as well
as tips for identifying people in photos and approximating dates on
which photos were taken.
3. The Ancestry.com Blog
has a lot of information about how to use the myriad of research
tools that are available on Ancestry.com as well as general
news and helpful tips.
4. GenealogyInsider is a blog by the folks at Family Tree Magazine. It has genealogy
news and tips as well as podcasts, contests, and more.
5. Steve’s Genealogy Blog contains information about specific surnames that, while they may
not help you with your family tree still make for interesting reading.
In addition to general genealogy tips and information, Steve’s
blog also has some great information and photos about his travels in
the Netherlands and Sweden.
These are just five of the many interesting and helpful genealogy blogs that are out there. If you are looking for some interesting reading, surname or culture-specific information, or even just some fresh ideas for approaching your family history research, I would recommend browsing through some of the genealogy blogs. You never know what you might find.
