This probably should have been one of my first posts. Why do I love to scrapbook? Everyone has their own reasons for doing this hobby. Some people probably just don’t get it. All of those hours spend cutting, and glueing and piecing together tiny objects may sound horrible, but to me, it sounds heavenly.
At first, it was just a way for me to put pictures on a page to make it look more interesting. Then, it became a creative art. It was an evolution to get to that point. For me, it took a few years of doing simple scrapbooks before I even considered anything else. But, then my sister introduced me to a website that was meant for sharing your pages, and I was introduced to a more modern form of scrapbooking. This was right up my alley.
I always thought to get the elaborate pages, you had to spend hundreds of dollars. But, in reality, it was all about using what you have and being creative! It was about thinking outside of the box. That is what I fell in love with. Now, each page is a piece of art. I don’t try to match a whole album of pages with a similar look. I don’t even try to match two pages sitting right next together in the album. For me, each page is a tiny masterpiece that could and should stand all on its own.
I have always been a right-brained Virgo that loves to be creative. Even from a young age I wanted to draw and take art classes. Now, as a busy Mom no longer in school, I use scrapbooking as my outlet. It is the time that I get to do something I love. A time that is all about me. A time to be creative.
My other reason is to preserve something precious that I hope future generations will look at. I want my children and grandchildren to see what I loved, what I thought, and what I felt. This is another reason why I scrapbook.
For me, it is not work. It is a peaceful, relaxing way I can think about all the wonderful memories I have created and will create in the future.
