There are five different storage choices that you make each day. Are you really choosing the best ones to suit your needs and your stuff, or are you simply storing in chaos with no plan other than to put it somewhere? Here are the five different storage choices in your home and the type of items that are appropriate for each.
You can hang it
Hanging items seems like a no brainer, but it can go wrong, very wrong. For example, there was the lady that decided to hang every bit of clothing she own, on her living room walls! That aside, hanging is a good option for many types of clothes. Just so it in a closet or on a rack.
Other items to hang:
School back packs
Photos and art (I bet you have a box of school artwork that would do better on a wall)
Accessories, such as ties, belts and pet leashes
Keys
Purses
You can store it in a drawer or bin
Drawers and bins are wonderful storage for things that you either don’t want seen or things that need to be heavily corralled for organization. Clothes, of course, can be stored in a drawer, but so can the following (or in a bin):
Toys
Out of season items
Small desk items, such as pencils, pads, extra mouse pads, etc.
Small kitchen gadgets
Bills and incoming mail (only until it is dealt with)
Remote controls (in a side table drawer)
Jewelry
You can put it on a shelf
Shelves are great for items that you both want to display or display and have on hand. While you may need underwear everyday, you wouldn’t want to display it! If you have limited storage space, you want to go for the second option to keep things really functional.
Some items to put on shelves include:
Books
Office supplies
Pretty kitchen items
Decorative art
Photo frames
Small collections (corral them with small baskets, plates or bowls).
