Scrapbook pages are visually appealing to the eye. Using different colors, layouts and accessories can help to create an interesting page. Try not to get too wrapped up in simplicity. Scrapbooking is your opportunity to think outside the box and get creative.
So here are some ideas on how to make your scrapbook pages more visually appealing and creative. First, think about how you can incorporate embellishments onto your pages. Stickers are fine but there are so many other interesting trinkets that could be included on your page.
Brads, sequins, ribbons, lace, jewels, flowers, buttons and snaps are just a few of literally hundreds of embellishments that could be incorporated onto your scrapbook page. These add flair and zip to your pages.
Another great idea is to focus on just one photo and build around that focal point. You can do that by centering one larger sized photo in the center of your page. Then starting from the top left-hand side of your page, moving to the right you can add to the story being told in your main photo.
As an example, let’s say you want to scrapbook a page for Halloween. The main photo could be your child dressed in their costume. The other pictures that surround the main photo could tell the story. This could include pictures of you making their costume, assuming you did, or your child getting ready for Halloween. You could include pictures of your child getting their makeup put on or trick or treating.
When you use this idea, to make the main photo pop out you should mat it but don’t mat the other smaller pictures that surround it.
You can also make your pages visually appealing by changing the way you mat your pictures. Instead of the typical square or rectangle shape, try using other shapes. Cut your cardstock into shapes like ovals, curves, hearts and then place the photo on top of it.
Another way to make your pages visually appealing is to outline your photographs using lace or ribbon. Instead of matting the pictures with cardstock, try using other materials that outline the photo.
Hopefully these ideas will get you started on some new and interesting scrapbook pages. This is just part one so more ideas are to come.
