From snowflakes to snow angels, candles to candy canes, reindeer to rhinestones, the variety of Christmas-themed scrapbook embellishments is practically limitless. What’s more, during the holiday season, finding the adorable adornments is a breeze. You can find Christmas-themed stickers, stamps, die cuts, and paper wherever scrapbooking supplies are sold.
Fortunately, you don’t have to go broke decorating your seasonal layouts. There are a number of ways you can create frugal embellishments with supplies you have in your leftovers bin. For example, you can use plain computer paper or extra construction paper to make mini snowflakes to decorate your page.
Other ideas include:
1. Use scraps of your favorite patterned paper to cut out squares, and then top with little bows for cute gift box embellishments.
2. Gather leftover cardstock in various shades of green and cut out tree shapes to add to your layout. You can further embellish the trees with sequins or flocking powder.
3. Repurpose metallic or glitter paper by cutting stars or snowflake shapes and adding them to a sheet of cardstock for a custom background or affix them directly to your main background.
4. Make a photo copy of your child’s letter to Santa and place it in your scrapbook. You can either leave it as is or use it as part of a journaling block that illustrates his/her handwriting and personal interests.
