Theme Park Expands in Kentucky

It made headlines when it opened in Petersburg, Kentucky, and now residents in the northern part of the “Bluegrass State” will be getting their own Creation Museum and theme park.

According to new reports, a huge replica of Noah’s Ark, plus an 800-acre creationist theme park will be calling Grant County home in the near future. Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear says plans are underway to construct the $150 million ark and theme park, which, when complete, is expected to attract 1.6 million visitors annually.

The existing 70,000-square-foot Creation Museum, located about seven miles from the Cincinnati-northern Kentucky airport, opened in May 2007 and was expected to attract about 250,000 visitors per year. However, it surpassed 1 million visitors in less than three years, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The museum attracts visitors from around the world with detailed exhibits, which represent the views of Apologetics Ministry, including the belief that the Earth is only about 7,000 years old and that dinosaurs were among the creatures on Noah’s ark. According to the museum’s website, the theme area “brings the pages of the Bible to life, casting its characters and animals in dynamic form and placing them in familiar settings.” Older patrons can visit Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden while children can play with dinosaurs that roam near Eden’s Rivers. There’s even a serpent that coils around branches on the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.”

Other museum highlights include:

*A planetarium showing “the amazing ‘Created Cosmos'”

*Four theaters including a special effects auditorium featuring “Men in White”

*A Dinosaur Den

*Noah’s Ark construction site

*A cave about “Natural Selection Is Not Evolution”

In addition to the ark and theme park, visitors can enjoy a slew of new restaurants and hotels that are expected to be constructed in tandem with the Creation complex. Grant County leaders say they are looking to add eateries and businesses that will complement the park.
