This is the last of a four part series of Father’s Day ideas from the heart – creative, fun, inexpensive, and most of all, memorable Father’s Day gifts you can put together with your children this year.
This is an incredibly easy and quick gift – perfect for last minute gift-giving. If you have a printer and paper, it’s free! Dads love to be pampered just like us Moms – just in different ways. Think of the ways your husband would love to be pampered and write up a book full of coupons. These coupons can have an expiration date (we have done one coupon for each month of the year in the past) our create coupons with no expiration.
Simply open a word processing program, create a new document and start typing! Skip 10 lines or so for every new coupon. Feel free to use creative fonts and colors. Print and cut into strips. The kids can join in by helping to think up the coupons and drawing pictures on the back of each coupon. Older kids and create their own hand-written coupon books.
Here are some suggestions for coupons:
- A day of golf
- Dinner out with Mom
- A weekend of sleeping in
- Chips and Salsa for Football Sunday
- Picnic with the kids
- 10 Free Hugs and Kisses
- Dinner in Bed (an alternative to the traditionally female Breakfast In Bed)
- Movie and Popcorn at home
- Free Garbage Duty
- Car Wash
- Golf Club Cleaning
- Sweep out Garage
- Day of Fishing
If you feel compelled to make a gift for your husband from yourself, you can do the same thing with coupon ideas that are sexy or forbidden! If that’s not your style, you can offer coupon books for “Date Nights”, just the two of you alone. And, for your own Father, you can do an adult-style coupon book offering opportunities to spend time together that so often slip away when we are adults. Have fun with it – Dad will really appreciate it for the whole year long!
