Around here the holidays are all about the kids. As I look back at seasonal scrapbooks I’ve made since giving birth, there are very few layouts that don’t include at least few rugrats running around making merry in some form or another. Even more telling about my scrapbooking technique is the fact that most of the pages that include children also feature quotes or inspirational sayings that tie into the kid-centered design.
Using famous or familiar words is one of the cheapest ways to embellish a scrapbook page. You can print them out at home and use them as a page or photo border, as substitutes for journaling, or as inspiration for personal additions to a particular layout.
The following quotes are some that I have used in baby and sibling scrapbooks:
“Every child begins the world again.” – Henry David Thoreau
“What good mothers and fathers instinctively feel like doing for their babies is usually best after all.” – Benjamin Spock
“I think, at a child’s birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift would be curiosity.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
“Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” – Elizabeth Stone
“Babies are such a nice way to start people.” – Don Herold
“People who say they sleep like a baby usually don’t have one.” – Leo J. Burke
“When sisters stand shoulder to shoulder who stands a chance against us?” – Pam Brown
“SISTER: She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she’s the reason you wish you were an only child.” – Barbara Alpert
