I have always thought it odd when people take pictures at a funeral. But, I guess it is a time when a lot of people that normally aren’t together, get together. So, many times, photos are taken. When my Mother-in-Law passed away, there was definitely a lot of picture taking going on. While, I did not bring my own camera, I do have some photos from that day. What should one do about scrapping them?
In our case, I wanted to make a book of remembrance for my husband so that on those days when he was really missing his Mom, he could pull out the scrapbook and look at pictures of her. But, I definitely did not want the pictures to all be from her funeral. So, I collected a few things to put in the scrapbook.
*Childhood Photos of Her
*Photos of my Husband and her together
*Photos of our children with her
*Flowers to press from the funeral
*The funeral program
*A talk, or Eulogy given at the funeral
In our case, my husband and both of his brothers all had to speak at her funeral. They all gave such wonderful talks! Their talks were such a tribute to her life. So, that is something we definitely wanted to include in the album. However, I did not want to dwell so much on the actual day, but on the many pictures that my husband had of her that made up her life. I ended the album with a few photos from the funeral.
The key to making this special is to not make it all about the loss that you, or the person you are scrapping for is experiencing. Make it an album that they will want to look at often. One that will remind them of not only the day of the funeral, but the life that person lived!
