Print out this handy guide or bookmark it, so you’ll always know when items go on sale or get discounted through out the year.

Here is when to buy what. This list is based on personal experience and a recent report by Consumer Reports Magazine. Of course, you should still check the clearance racks and corners of your local store. Sometimes individual stores decide to clear out inventory at strange times. I once saw a lot of Halloween related items on sale in January, for example.

January

Carpeting, Bedding and linens, CDs and DVDs, after Christmas seasonal items, swim wear (It is true!), treadmills and elliptical machines, televisions, jackets and winter clothing, computers, cook wear, toys, homes (real estate), candy.

March

April

Digital cameras, lawn mowers and lawn care items, spring clothing items, computers, pool and beach toys.

May

Camping and outdoor gear, lawn mowers, small electronics, carpeting, cordless phones, sports and athletic apparel, sneakers.

June

Carpeting, computers, camcorders and digital camcorders, furniture, cleaning supplies, swim wear, summer gear.

July

Outdoor furniture, swim wear, camcorders and digital camcorders.

August
