I am quite certain I am the only person on the planet who dislikes peppermint. My husband and children certainly feel that is the case. When I tell someone that I dislike mint or peppermint I met with shock and awe as if I had five heads. I am often asked if I chew gum. I don’t. One of my friends thought it must be torture to brush my teeth. Oddly, in toothpaste it does not bother me so much. Maybe I have just associated the taste of a peppermint patty with a solution intended to remove plaque and bad breath. Regardless, I have no interest in anything mint. I have to say I will not even entertain it under the guise it may be an aid in weight loss and in good health.
Please keep in mind that no one food, herb, essential oil or supplement will cause you to lose weight. Like it or not, weight loss is a process that takes commitment and work on the part of the dieter. The focus and goal should be on health. If we can find healthy alternatives and foods which also aid in weight loss then that’s just the icing on the cake. Or should I say that’s just the fat free ranch dressing on the carrot?
Benefits of Peppermint:

Reduces heartburn
Pain reliever for muscle aches and pains
What about weight loss?
It is said that inhaling or ingesting peppermint will curb your appetite and prevent cravings. Peppermint also increases a sense of fullness after eating. Peppermint increases the sense of taste and smell which gives a more satisfying meal experience.
Honestly, I cannot say if any of that is true. As I mentioned, I dislike peppermint. My suggesting is to pop a piece of gum in your mouth after you eat and see what happens. I do know that if I brush my teeth right after eating, it prevents me from eating more or having dessert. I’m not sure if that is the peppermint. You will have to judge for yourself.
