Fitness in Your 30’s

So in my last blog we talked about fitness in your 20’s and how these are the prime years to start off with healthy habits. So now we are going to look at fitness in your 30’s.

The 30’s tend to be the time when many of us have started or are well into raising families. The 30’s are a busy decade. In many cases we are married, have children and are working. The idea of finding time to squeeze in some exercise may sound impossible.

But it is during this period that it is most crucial you find the time. Stopping now will only destroy what you have worked so hard at. And if you never did get started with healthy habits in your 20’s, it is never too late.

However you will also begin to notice a change with your body. Losing weight becomes more difficult and this will continue to be true as you age. Your metabolism is beginning to slow down so if you have not already been keeping fit, you are going to notice some unpleasant changes to your body. This is especially true for women who have given birth.

Circuit training and cardio are great types of exercises to do in your 30’s. If you are trying to get rid of baby weight, then Pilates is a great option. Don’t forget to take advantage of opportunities to get fit with your children. If you have babies, get a baby jogger or one of those attachments to your bike.

You could also incorporate some fun family fitness routines that gets everyone up and moving around. Busyness shouldn’t be an excuse to skip exercising. It will require creativity, dedication and perseverance.

Think of even small ways you can keep active. Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator. Bike or walk when you can. Lift weights while watching television. Just the little changes can make a big difference.

The 30’s are busy yes, but you will have more energy for everything going on if you keep a healthy, fit lifestyle.
