Disney might not be throwing as big of a party for Easter as it does for other holidays, like Christmas or Halloween, but there are still a variety of spring holiday events and offers going on this year. The official Disney Parks blog has all the details on the various happenings.
First, any Disney World guests this weekend should be pleased to know that the Easter Bunny himself, along with his wife Mrs. Bunny, will be making appearances to greet fans. The Easter Bunny’s actually spent the whole past week at the Magic Kingdom, doing a meet-and-greet at Tour Guide Gardens (adjacent to the Magic Kingdom’s City Hall).
On Easter Sunday the rabbits of the hour will headline a pre-parade (whatever that means) at 2:45. This will serve as the starter for the 3 p.m. Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade in the Magic Kingdom. Strangely, there don’t appear to be any equivalent appearances or parades featuring the Easter Bunny over at Disneyland.
Orlando Disney guests aren’t the only ones who will receive something special for the holiday this year, though Disney Florida operations do seem to be hogging all the fun. Guests at the Vacation Club’s Vero Beach Resort will once again be able to enjoy both an Easter Egg Hunt and a special day-long Easter Buffet.
Times for the hunt are 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Excited kids will also have the chance to greet the White Rabbit from “Alice in Wonderland” in the hotel lobby, though reservations are necessary (call 772-234-2180), as after all he’s on an important schedule.
The Easter Buffet, lasting from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., costs $28.99 for ages 10 and up and $16.99 for ages 9 and under. The menu includes Beef Wellington, fillet of sole, spring pea bisque, chilled seafood, and a variety of stations: carving station, pasta and salad stations, and an omelette station open until 3 p.m. Fare for kids includes mac and cheese, chicken fingers, and mini corn dogs.
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is likely not the only Disney hotel offering some sort of special menu for Easter Sunday; I just don’t have space to list them all here. If you’re taking a Disney vacation over the holiday, be sure to check out the details for your hotel of choice to see if there’s a special for Sunday.
Disney collectors should also enjoy this holiday, as like always there are several special merchandise options available. The recently-created Duffy the Disney Bear, a teddy bear unique to Disney, has a special Easter outfit that one can check out over at the Disney Parks blog.
For the real jackpot, however, head on over to the Disney Store Online. For Easter, and to coincide with its recent release on DVD, many specially-decorated Bambi characters are currently available. Plush Thumper’s and Bambi’s sport multicolored Easter bows.
The White Rabbit makes a rare appearance as a plush toy. And there are multiple pins, Easter baskets and buckets, watches, t-shirts, and more featuring popular characters such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Chip and Dale revolving around both Easter and spring themes.
