I am a Recess Mom, not Room Mom at my daughter’s school, yet somehow I got suckered into helping put together an end-of-the-year thank you scrapbook for a couple of educators.
Granted, one of the teachers is my daughter’s homeroom teacher and the other is the music teacher, but I’m not an expert scrapper, so I refused to take on the entire job. Fortunately, the mom in charge delegated the work so that none of the moms who volunteered to help would be stuck making pages and pages of layouts solo.
My task was to find a list of appropriate teacher-related quotes that could be used to embellish various layouts. Here are a few of my top picks in case you find yourself in my position later this month:
The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called “truth.”– Dan Rather

Teachers who inspire know that teaching is like cultivating a garden and those who would have nothing to do with thorns must never attempt to gather flowers. — Author Unknown

The task of the excellent teacher is to stimulate “apparently ordinary” people to unusual effort. The tough problem is not in identifying winners: it is in making winners out of ordinary people. — K. Patricia Cross
There is no education like adversity. — Benjamin Disraeli
