When is the last time you were at an Arby’s restaurant? For me, I think it’s been over two years. I honestly had no idea that they have expanded their menu to include Market Fresh Sandwiches. They have a brand new Grilled Chicken and Pecan sandwich, on two kinds of bread. You can print out a coupon that will give you free curly fries and a free drink when you buy a Market Fresh Sandwich from Arby’s.
When I think of Arby’s, the first thing that comes to mind is a quote from a Simpson’s cartoon. A bunch of the kids, including Bart and Lisa, get stranded on their way to a field trip, (or something like that), leaving the kids with no food. One of the girls laments “I’m so hungry, I could eat at Arby’s.” It was never my favorite fast food restaurant, but I did enjoy their food every once in a while. My husband summed up how we both feel about Arby’s best when he told me, “I like it, but I haven’t had it in two years, and I don’t miss it”.
I was rather surprised to learn that Arby’s has changed it’s menu to include Market Fresh Sandwiches. The website describes these sandwiches as the “feel-good sandwiches of the year”. The sandwiches have thick cut honey wheat bread, and “generous cuts” of oven roasted meat. They come topped with fresh produce. These sandwiches look a lot like something I would get from a local deli, and not something I ever expected to see on the menu at Arby’s. These new sandwiches are in addition to the typical roast beef sandwiches that Arby’s is known for.
There are five types of Market Fresh Sandwiches that you can choose from: Roast Turkey Ranch & Bacon Sandwich, Reuben with Corned Beef Sandwich, Roast Turkey & Swiss Sandwich, Ultimate BLT Sandwich, and Roast Ham & Swiss Sandwich. Their names are really self-explanatory, which is helpful. It’s always good to know what, exactly, you are ordering for lunch or dinner.
Recently they added something new. You can get a Grilled Chicken and Pecan Salad Sandwich on the honey wheat bread, or in a wrap. These will only be around for a limited time. The sandwich, or the wrap, has tender chunks of grilled chicken breast, crunchy pecans, crisp apples, celery, juicy red grapes, and green leaf lettuce. It reminds me very much of the Orchard Chicken Salad sandwich that Subway has started selling. I liked the one from Subway, so I would assume I that I will also like the one from Arby’s.
There is a coupon that you can print out, and take with you to Arby’s. In order to use this coupon you must purchase a Market Fresh Sandwich. The coupon shows a picture of the new Grilled Chicken and Pecan Salad Sandwich, but I don’t think you are restricted to it. It’s merely a suggestion. The coupon will give you a free 22 oz Pepsi Beverage, and a small order of curly fries. The coupon is good through May 17, 2011.
