Memory Game

Jessie’s friend Braeden gave her a My Little Pony Memory Game for her birthday. Trying to play Memory the way I know how to play Memory is a frustrating experience with a three-year-old. Jessie wants to turn over all the cards and look at the pictures. She doesn’t get the concept of matching pictures and remembering where pictures are when they don’t show.

She’s not ready. That’s okay because there are a lot of things that Jessie isn’t ready for. The My Little Pony cards have ended up in a plastic zip bag and Jessie carries them around. I love that Jessie enjoys these cards as much as she does.

Jessie made up a new game for her My Little Pony Memory Game cards. She took the bag of cards and the Winnie the Pooh trash can out of the baby’s room. She got her Tinkerbell backpack and sat next to me on the couch. She opened the bag of cards and transferred them to the trash can. Then she moved the cards from the trash can to the backpack and back to the trash can again. She sat here for the longest time moving cards around. Who needs to play memory the way it’s meant to be played when you could shuffle cards around for an afternoon.

One of Jessie’s friends turned two and we went to the party over the weekend. All the children got to choose two treats out of the basket to take home for party favors. Jessie chose a poster with pens to color later and a Dora The Explorer deck of cards. The box of cards says that it’s a Crazy 8s game. I don’t know how to play Crazy 8s. It doesn’t really matter. Jessie just wants to look at the cards. She’ll make her own game.
