Looking for a way to slim down? Why don’t you try the Heidi Montag fitness plan? All you have to do is workout for 14 hours a day for 2 months. Sounds great, right?
Let me first explain who Heidi Montag is, in case you don’t know. She starred in an MTV reality show that ran from 2006 until 2010, “The Hills.” The only reason I know of her is because she was also in a show I watched back in 2009, “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”
Let’s just say she left a bad taste in my mouth…since then I have also heard of her numerous plastic surgeries, talked about often on “The View.”
Well the latest gossip about Heidi Montag is how she got her “buff” body. She claims to have worked out from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. everyday for two months. Now first of all, I find that very unlikely. It is virtually impossible to do this. No one has the stamina to workout this many hours unless they are taking something.
But what really bothers me is the fact that women will hear or read about this and think, “That’s it! That’s my answer.” The truth is that you can workout too much. You can actually do your body more harm by overtraining. You are also more susceptible to injuries and illness.
There is also a psychological issue behind this. No one who is thinking right will really believe this is a good idea. To focus so much on one thing can cause your thought processes to become a bit skewed.
Heidi Montag is all about the outer shell. I really believe she needs to do a little soul searching and look within at what needs the real workout. Don’t let her be your fitness idol. It’s just really not healthy.
Fitness is important but as with anything else in life, it’s all about balance.
