Got Extra Stuff? Sell It Online

How is this for motivation to de-clutter your home? You could be sitting on $800 or more in items that you aren’t really using. Turn that clutter into cash with the following tips.

Make More Money

While there are other ways to sell your household items, such as garage sales and consignment stores, you’ll generally get the best prices on everything if you sell it all online. Sites such as Craigslist, eBay, Amazon and others allow you to sell your stuff yourself and keep all of the profit (although some sites do charge a very small fee).

Buy selling online, you’ll also get a wider audience than you might trying to sell your stuff locally. More eyes will get to see it, increasing your chance of selling successfully.

Do Your Research

Did you know that asking too little for an item can deter buyers as often as asking too much? This is because a rock bottom price can make buyers wary that the product isn’t all that it should be. Go online to the various resale sites and see what the price is on similar items that are selling. Then price your stuff competitively, based on the condition and rarity of your specific piece.

Write the Perfect Description

The more details that you can put into a description, the more likely you are to attract a serious buyer. Photos of your stuff are always a plus, as some people won’t even look at an ad or entry without them.
Since items that may be gone the next day generate a lot of interest and can turn a browser into a buyer, set an end date in your ad if it isn’t already built into the site. Only selling something for a few days can actually work to your advantage.
