The Craving

Induced by a local magazine article, I spent a good twenty minutes trying to find a local sandwich shop that I had not heard of before. I am not usually proned to cravings during pregnancy (aside from my normal non-pregnant cravings), but recently I was craving a deli style sandwich of sorts.

It all began when I was thumbing through a magazine styled newsletter at my mom’s house. The magazine as a whole was not particularly enthralling and the only article I read was not well written by any stretch of the imagination. I was drawn in by the picture: a glorious looking deli sandwich! As I quickly scanned the article, I gleaned “ deli sandwich,” “Westown Parkway,” and “Piccadilly “ (I was wrong on the last one).

A few days later when I was out running some errands (which also happened to be around lunch time) I suddenly remembered that picture and the few words I had gleaned from the article and I was determined that I was going to have a sandwich from this particular deli and no other. I headed towards Westown Parkway and upon reaching it, I turned right hoping to come upon this particular deli. I had been driving for about thirty blocks, when I realized that it could not be further in this same direction. So I turned around to head in the opposite direction. After another forty blocks, I saw the deli “Pickerman’s Deli.”

At this point I was nearly ravenous, and upon entering the deli I promptly order a Smoke Turkey Sandwich with a big glass of water. Success! The sandwich quickly cured my craving and I devoured it a matter of minutes. It was quite tasty! While I was eating my sandwich, I was thinking, “What will I get next time?” Perhaps next time will be an entirely different craving altogether!
