Keeping Cool in the Heat

Today is another blistering hot day. I guess that it could be worse. I was just talking to someone who says it is 106 degrees where he lives. This is not down south either. So how do you keep cool admist this hot weather?

Here are some great ways to keep cool when the thermometer is on the rise:

Dress lightly. No, you cannot go naked, but you can wear minimal clothing and still be covered. Shorts, tee shirts and tank tops are all perfect. Dresses though seem to be the best thing to wear when the weather is hot. There is no clothing around your legs and that is a plus right there. Circulation is quite prominent also.

Ditch the sneakers. As long as you are not running or playing some type of sport, wear your sandals without the socks. Although they are not the best thing for your feet, as they offer no support, you need to keep cool and this is how it is done.

Do you have a pool or know someone who does? Stay in it for as long as you can. However, take precautions against the sun. Always wear sunscreen and reapply regularly. A hat and sunglasses are a must also.

It is great to be active, but in the excessive heat it is best just to take it easy. Leave the sports and running around for another day. Just be a little lazy until the heat wave blows over.

If you have air conditioning, stay inside for part of the day, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The most important thing that you can do in the heat is to drink. You are losing water through sweating and you need to replace the lost fluids. If you do not then you will become dehydrated, which will require medical care if you are not careful.
