We are wrapping up our chore lists with today’s final one, the annual chore list. Hopefully by now you have discovered that keeping your home in order is not as difficult as you thought, once you organize everything.
Your housekeeping binder will be helpful for other things but I will touch on that in a bit. Let’s first consider some of the chores that can be done on an annual basis.
Go through your house and look for minor repairs that should be done. This includes tightening screws on cabinets, drawers, doors and furniture. It could also include caulking around windows, bathtubs and sinks.
It’s a good idea to once-a-year go through your papers and filing system. If you don’t have a filing system, then develop one. If you are a collector of books, CDs or DVDs, go through those and get rid of the ones you no longer want or use. These can be donated or given away.
Depending on your family’s situation, you may get away with deep cleaning your carpets and upholstery once-a-year. Or this could be the perfect opportunity to repaint rooms.
You can also clean out junk drawers, medicine cabinets and sort through your children’s toys. De-cluttering the home is a beneficial annual chore.
Now that you have your lists and you have placed them inside your housekeeping binder, you should think of other things that can be stored inside it. Anything related to housekeeping, such as warranties or special instructions on the care of items.
You might keep receipts on household items you have bought. Keep a running list of phone numbers for services that you might use, such as plumbing or air conditioning. You could even use your housekeeping binder to store your favorite recipes.
Just think…you will have everything you need to run your household in one place. This is one of the best organizing tips I think I could offer when it comes to housekeeping.
