Are you known for saying, “Could you get that for me?” That becomes a common line for parents who are sitting comfortably in their recliners and have children nearby. It is much easier to ask a little one to grab something for them. But this can become a very bad habit that translates into other lazy behaviors.
Now we have remote controls that can not only turn on our televisions but control our air conditioners, space heaters and lights. Technology can make us lazier.
Have you ever thought about whether or not you are lazy? It’s important to evaluate your behaviors and decide if you are. Because for every single moment you choose the lazy route, you are losing the opportunity to be active. And let’s face it; we have become a very inactive society.
It takes much less effort to use the escalator or elevator instead of the stairs. How many people do you know (or perhaps you are one of them) that can’t even muster up the energy to climb one level and instead will push a button and board an elevator to go up a floor?
There are so many small ways that we can keep active throughout the day. Taking the stairs, walking an extra lap, running to grab that thing we forgot, taking the children outside to play ball, bike to work…these are just some ways we can combat the pull to be lazy.
I only recently discovered that I really struggle with this. That’s because I never gave it much thought. In fact, there have been times when I am sitting downstairs watching television and I can hear the dog upstairs barking to be let back inside the house. Instead of going up there to let her in, I will text one of my children and ask them to bring the dog in.
If I truly want to be a fitter person, I have to combat these lazy behaviors. What lazy behaviors do you struggle with?
