Tracked her Down

The biological mother of our three wonderful children that we have adopted has now broken the terms of our mediation agreement two times. I have tracked her down through a little bit of research on the internet. I have called the number listed as hers and the person who answered told me that the biological mother was her children’s baby sitter. I still don’t get that but it was none of my business to inform her of who she has watching her kids.

I called back later that evening when I was told that she would be returning. When she answered the phone I explained to her that part of our mediation agreement is strictly conditional that she is to notify us of any address changes and if two letters got returned that the mediation agreement would be off. So technically she has already cancelled out the agreement.

I explained to her that for the benefit of the kids that I would try one more time with some conditions. One main condition was I wanted her to complete a family medical history like you get to complete when you first go to a new doctor. I explained that we would mail her out a standard medical form for her to complete and if she did and returned it to us we would send out an update. She agreed to this and asked if we would send her copies of the pictures she had already received because she lost them.

I did agree to send more pictures WHEN we received the medical form back, I figured she could at least provide us with her side of the medical histories so the pediatricians and other doctors through the years would know if the kids should be screened for any illnesses. She agreed to complete the packet and return it because she wanted the updates and pictures still.

The next day I mailed out the packet to the address that she gave me on the phone the night before and it was signed by someone else. I called to make sure she received it seeing as she did not sign for the letter and she acknowledge receipt of it and expressed thanks for us giving her another chance. We never did receive that medical package back. I tried to locate her again and I have not had any luck. The phone number I called was disconnected with no new number listed.

I really hoped she would have filled out the forms to show she wanted the contact and what was best for the kids.

About Tammy Woolard

My name is Tammy and I am 40 year old mother of 3 wonderful children who came to us through domestic adoption. Although we did not have any fertility issues we chose adoption because there are so many kids that did not ask to be born but truly want a family to love. We did research on adoption choices and decided on domestic adoption through CPS. You would be surprised the differences between each agency. The adoption process is nothing like you see in the movies. I am also a 5 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed my kids were 3, 5 and 7 I did so much research I may have driven my Dr. a little crazy but that is ok it is my body not his.
