Fall has Arrived!

By my calendar it should be July not September. I was not ready for summer to end. Time goes by so fast the older you get. Nonetheless it is autumn again we have another chance to enjoy apple cider, falling leaves, and pumpkin patches. This fall plan a few field trips to your local pumpkin patch, orchard or farm for some fun with the kids. Here are some fall activities to welcome in the new season.

Pressed Leaves: If the leaves in your area have not changed color then gather up some green ones now and some colored ones later to track the season. Take your leaves and place on wax paper then place another sheet of wax paper on top. Put your iron on a low setting and iron the wax sheets to stick together. You may want to add in a little label or tag with the date on it before adding the top wax sheet.

Leaf Prints: Bring out your favorite fall colors in acrylic paints and gather up some pretty leaves. On paper plates squeeze out some paint. Lightly press a leaf in the paint and then press the leaf on a canvas or heavy duty white paper to make print.

Paper Plate Pumpkins: Paint or color a paper plate orange. Cut out a stem from construction paper and glue or staple to the top of the plate. You can make faces on your pumpkin and hang them up to decorate for fall.

Apples of My Eye: You will need paper plates, photo of your child, construction paper, glue and any embellishments you may desire. Color or paint the plate red and attach a stem made from construction paper to the top. Then glue a picture of your child to the center of the apple. Now you are ready to hang the apple of your eye up for everyone to see.
