Small businesses are a big investment to an individual. The business may be considered small but the time and effort are huge. You may not be interested in this type of business but would like to explore having multiple streams of income or just need to make extra money for the holidays or a vacation. So instead of the small business a tiny business maybe best suited for your goals. A tiny business is a low pressure business which relies on your talents and skills and does not rely on a large investment. It is a business you can do on the side, seasonally, once a year or once in a lifetime.
Types of Tiny Businesses:
Baker: Sell your cakes and cookies for special events or holidays only. Please check with your state laws before selling food you prepare in your kitchen as the health department may need to inspect.
Seamstress: You can hem items for friends and family on the side or just do wedding dresses and wedding parties.
Soap Making: Do it on your own time and sell at craft shows, online or through personal connections.
Dog walking: You may not want to make a business out of this but wouldn’t mind walking a few dogs during the summer. Instead of working daily set a three day a week schedule and limit the number of dogs to only a few.
Pet Sitting: Establish yourself as a pet sitter to your friends and family and only schedule to do this a few times a year. A great sideline for someone who works out of their home since you can bring your laptop and get two jobs done at once.
Tutoring: You can offer your services a few nights a week and limit yourself on students and area of study.
