Repurpose Halloween and Fall Items for Your Be Prepared Kit

fall candles Right now, there is an abundance of Halloween and Fall-themed items that can be repurposed for your Be Prepared, Emergency or Disaster Kits. Not only are these items easy to find right now, but you’ll find that they are cheaper than buying the items that are made specifically for emergency preparation.

On top of that savings, you may find that these Halloween and Fall-themed items are discounted even more, up to 40 percent off before Halloween and up to 90 percent after (although the selection won’t be as good). Look for the following seasonal products, and take advantage of them to be prepared.

Duct Tape

I was shopping at Michael’s craft store the other day and found an amazing range of specialty duct tape. It was the same strong duct tape, but instead of being gray, it was Halloween or fall-themed duct tape. You could get yellow, orange, black, candy corn print, pumpkin print, etc.

Light Sticks and Other Lighting

Halloween is the prime time for snatching up all sorts of light sticks. Take advantage of these to pick up a variety of different types. Concentrate on the ones that are the longest lasting and brightest, and also pick up a few that contain whistles or other extra features that might be helpful in an emergency.

Also look for other light sources, such as battery powered flashlights. Who cares if they have a theme on them, as long as they put out a good amount of light.

Latex, Neoprene or Plastic Gloves

While latex or neoprene gloves don’t seem associated with Halloween, you may find a display of them near the the Halloween make up as an add on for people who don’t want to get their hands covered with colors when they are making up themselves or others for costumes.

Candles

For Halloween and the Fall, there is usually a wealth of candles to choose among. Some stores will also have their Christmas displays up already, with, you guessed it, more candles.

Halloween candles are great because you can often find ones suitable for pumpkins, in sticks, votives and tealights, all types that are nice and compact for packing or travel.
