Traveling During Pregnancy Part I

I have spent the last two days preparing for a long drive to visit my sister, her husband, and their precious four week old baby girl. This will be my first long drive with just the kids, granted one is in utero. I suspect that pregnancy will have an affect on the road trip because I have never traveled more then two hours away while I was this pregnant. None the less this is a visit that I have been looking forward to for the last ten weeks at least (ever since my sister’s visit for her baby shower). Still there are lots of things to do before the trip can begin.

First I need to get my son’s and my own clothes packed which of course requires a load or two of laundry. My hope is that all of our clothes can fit into one smallish piece of luggage (I must be dreaming, I have never been able to fit just my clothes into one small piece of luggage). I have to remember that the climate is slightly different where my sister lives; there may even be a need for coats.

Then there are the toiletries like facial cleanser and hair product (the things that always seem to spill and make a mess every where). I would normally pack these items in plastic zipped bags but this time they are getting there on separate backpack!

Finally there is the food for the trip and food to help out with meals and such (I get my eggs from a local farmer and my sister does not have access to local eggs … so I will bring some with me). The idea of course is healthy foods that are easy to snack on like apples, carrots, nuts, cheese, and lots of water!

(To be continued …)
