I’ve been to a lot of spooky place, but I’ve always wanted to visit Bachelor’s Grove in Chicago, IL, the home of the infamous White Lady.
Bachelor’s Grove is a cemetery located in southwest Chicago. At first glance, it might appear to be a normal graveyard, one that hasn’t received the best of care over the years. But, Bachelor’s Grove is reportedly haunted. So much so that is has its own little list of ghastly residents and even a phantom building.
The most famous is undoubtedly the White Lady. The White Lady or the Madonna as she is sometimes called is believed to be Mrs. Rogers. During full moons, she walks the grounds of the cemetery, reportedly looking for her son, whom she was buried beside. There’s even a famous picture taken of a ghostly looking woman sitting on a tombstone in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s that many believe is the White Lady. The photo, taken by Jude Felz, was even published in the Chicago Sun-Times.
Two forest rangers reported seeing a farmer plowing his land by a lagoon. It might be a normal scenario if that farmer hadn’t died almost a hundred years ago. The farmer died almost 100 years ago while plowing when he got too close to the lagoon and both he and his horse fell in and died.
At least the farmer’s house was real. Since the 1950’s, many have seen a beautiful white farmhouse appear then mysteriously disappear from sight when entering the cemetery. If that isn’t frightening enough, imagine going around a sharp curve in the cemetery, only to find another car. But, it is a phantom car, a vintage 1940’s gangster car that collides, but leaves no damage behind.
Some have reportedly seen a two headed ghost near the same lagoon and lights and orbs are common sights at the cemetery. Could it be the spirits of those who reside there?
