Zumba Is Coming to the Video Game World

I keep hearing about the latest fitness craze, Zumba. In fact, I have a few Facebook friends who will post status updates about how much fun they had in their Zumba class. One status yesterday read, “My Zumba class got canceled,” followed with a sad face.

If you’re wondering what Zumba is, it is a dance fitness program with some Latin flair. If that doesn’t sound like fun in itself, then I don’t know what more you want. But I’m always up for a little funk.

And since it is dance fitness, it burns a lot of calories. Zumba classes have been springing up all over the United States and beyond.

Now here’s the thing…I don’t like to sign up for classes. I prefer to exercise at home. If you are one of those people who get more out of being with others, then I encourage you to try a Zumba class. I have yet to hear one person say something negative about it.

But for the rest of us homebodies, I have some good news. Zumba is set to hit the video game world in 2012. I don’t know about you, but that just really excites me.

Yes, you read that right…in February, 2012, “Zumba Fitness Rush” will be coming out on Kinect for Xbox 360. Now for me, the only downfall is that although we have two Xbox systems in our house, they belong to my boys. So the chance of me getting my hands on their video game system is pretty slim.

I, however, own Nintendo Wii, so I have to believe they will be next. And if not, well, I can always confiscate an Xbox 360 while they are at school. All I know is that I am pretty excited about this.

Have you tried Zumba? What has your experience with it been like?
