Non-Traditional Seasonal Escapes

Some die-hard traditionalists would never trade a winter wonderland for a sunny stretch of desert during the Christmas season, but that’s not stopping hotel owners in Sin City from trying to make their properties tempting travel destinations for the holidays.

Christmas in Las Vegas; it’s a trip you won’t soon forget.

If you think that Vegas sparkles in the spring and summer, wait until you see how it shines during the holiday season. Sin City’s most luxurious hotels are transformed into seasonal settings with more bling than Santa can haul in his sled. The world-famous Bellagio goes all out by decking its halls with tens of thousands of Christmas lights and houses a polar bear family and 42-foot fir tree to round out its decor. In addition, Caesars Palace has a promenade of lighted Christmas trees, as well as scrumptious spreads which include everything from prime rib and turkey to roast pork and salmon.

Christmas shopping in Las Vegas is another can’t miss adventure. Along with sprawling urban shopping centers, Sin City is home to some of the most luxurious boutiques in the world. Who needs Santa when you can pick out your own presents at the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, the Bellagio’s Via or Caesars’ Forum Shops? What’s more, all of the stores are open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so you don’t have to wait until December 26th to spend all the cash you score on the 25th.

Vegas’ casinos are also open on Christmas, as is the famous Fremont Street Experience. The popular downtown tourist attraction features special light displays and a host of eclectic sights, including a photo op with a Naughty Santa and one of his wives. If you are visiting with kids, head over to Silverton Hotel and Casino where you can see Santa don scuba gear and jump into the resort’s 117,000-gallon aquarium. Finally, whether you are visiting for Christmas or New Year’s Eve, you don’t want to miss out on Sin City’s most talked about live shows, such as Cirque du Soleil and Holly Madison’s Peepshow.
