Free Genealogy Apps for Android Devices

android Genealogy research is something that requires a lot of time, and quite a bit of effort. There are plenty of genealogy apps that are designed to be used by Android devices. This makes it extremely easy for genealogists to carry those resources with them as they travel to the library, courthouse, or other archive. Some of these apps can be downloaded for free.

Billion Graves is a FREE app that can be used on Android devices. This app helps genealogists to take photos of headstones in any cemetery, and to upload those photos to the Billion Graves website. The app will connect the location of the grave to the photo automatically. After the photo goes online, it becomes available for more genealogists to transcribe the information from the headstone.

Ancestry Beta 2 is another FREE app that can be used on Android devices. This app allows genealogists to connect to their Ancestry.com account when they are away from their home computer. You can edit your family tree, and add or delete people. You can also use the app to search for more people in your family tree. This is a useful app for genealogists who already have an Ancestry.com membership.

Photobucket Mobile is a FREE app that can also be used on Android devices. This app allows you to connect to your Photobucket account from your phone. You can upload, download, share, or copy your photos. It lets you organize your albums. It also gives you access to Photobucket’s media library. If you are using Photobucket to organize your family photos, then this will be a useful app.

MobileLife Family Organizer is another FREE app that can be used on Android devices. This app is an organizer that you can use to manage your family’s busy schedule. You can add to a calendar, create shopping lists, and make to-do lists. The app includes a family journal that you can use to make notes about the events of the day. I think this app would be useful for genealogists who are trying to put together a family reunion, or who are interviewing relatives about family history.
