Making This a Stress-Less Christmas

We are just a few days away from Christmas. If you were to ask me if I feel ready, I would have to honestly say no. But at the same time, I’m not sweating it.

Gift shopping-wise, I am fine. In fact, this is the easiest I have ever had it. No adults are exchanging and the only other children in the family are my nephews. But my sister and I agreed to not buy for each other’s kids this year.

My children want money, so I don’t even have to pick their gifts out. So in this department, I am doing fine.

But in other departments, I’m not doing as well.

Take the baking. I have taken the time to only bake one Christmas treat but it was gone by the next day. I have the ingredients for all of the other items I planned on baking but not sure I will even get to them.

Not only do I not have any grocery items that I will need for the Christmas meal I am hosting but I don’t even know what I’m going to make. I don’t even have the ham, which was on sale last week.

I could easily get stressed out. After all, I still have the house to get ready for company. But I am just not up to making myself sick about it. I don’t care if I don’t get to the baking and I figure I have a couple of more days to plan my meal. Even if I don’t pick up the supplies until Friday, I’m still good.

And then I figure I have all of Saturday to clean and prepare the house. I think what’s making this easier is the fact that Christmas falls on a Sunday. Having all of Saturday is really nice since it’s not a workday.

And speaking of my house, I’m not going to sweat it. I’m not going to clean floors that are going to get dirty anyway. I am not going to clean out closets or drawers that no one will see.

I have decided to make this as stress-less of a Christmas as I possibly can. So take me as I am. You may expect more from me as a hostess but it’s all you are going to get.
