Make a fresh start in your bathroom by tossing away the old (and disgusting) and organizing the new. You don’t have to completely overhaul your bathroom, but taking a few minutes to go through a few things will really make a difference. An organized bathroom is easier to clean and looks nice, too.
Start with the hair accessories. Get rid of anything that is not working, such as stretched out elastics or broken clips. Why were we saving those anyway? If you are like me, you might even have a few scrunchies from the 80 or 90s laying around. Okay, go ahead and keep one or two so you can use them to pull up your hair when you need to wash your face, but c’mon, get rid of the rest. No one wears them in public anymore.
Find a container to corral those hair things. You might use a small plastic container, or even a paper clip holder (those magnetic ones) for bobby pins.
Potions and lotions are next. Go through and toss or giveaway anything that no longer works for you. Obviously anything that looks or smells off should go in the trash, and that also goes for makeup. Used makeup should be tossed, but new items that you never find yourself using can be swapped.
Speaking of tossing, are you still keeping medication in the bathroom? Heat and humidity can alter it. Remove all of your medication, toss any prescription medication you are not currently using, as well as any over the counter stuff that is expired. Store the remaining medication somewhere that is dry. The FDA website has medication disposal guidelines available.
Do you have any dust-pourri, I mean potpourri and many, many candles in your bathroom. Many of these types of decorations just take up space and become havens for dust, dust mites and mold. Whittle down the things to your absolute favorites and give them a good cleaning if you must have them displayed. Vow to use or lose any bath salts or bombs that have been serving more as knick knacks than for what they were intended. A few pretty things organized well looks so much better than too much stuff placed in every corner.
