Smoothies for Breakfast

If I could sleep past breakfast just to avoid it I most certainly would. I just cannot stomach the traditional breakfast fare. Eggs, sausage, grits, potatoes, just make me ill to think about. Except bacon and pancakes but of those options are good. Yet, I am rarely in an eating mood in the morning. I want something fast, refreshing and easy. Smoothies always fit the bill. I love the cold refreshing treat that is easy to drink and filling. I enjoy using Carnation Breakfast Essentials because it adds a pack of nutrition and flavor in a simple envelope. I also add in flax oil for nutrition.

Here are a few of my favorite recipes:

Mocha Blast

A smoothie for coffee lovers like me!

Ingredients

1 cup fat free milk

1 cup chocolate fat free frozen yogurt

1 packet Rich Milk Chocolate Flavor Carnation Breakfast Essentials Complete Nutritional Drink

1 1/2 teaspoons Taster’s Choice House Blend 100% Pure Instant Coffee Granules

Directions:

Place milk, frozen yogurt, Carnation Breakfast Essentials Drink and coffee granules in blender; cover. Blend until smooth.

Orange Smoothie

2 oranges, peeled & sectioned

1 frozen banana, chunked

1/4 c. orange juice

2 T. yogurt

1 tsp. vanilla

Blend in blender until smooth.

Try adding in pineapple or frozen yogurt.

Add in options and tips for smoothies:

Use frozen fruit.

Add in flax seed, tofu, yogurt and protein powder.

Cut up bananas and place in freezer before using if you like bananas. I personally do not like bananas but the kids do.

Use frozen yogurt for a thicker creamier smoothie.

Add in fat free half and half for a creamy texture

Add in flavored yogurt for extra flavor.
