Cleaning in 30 Minutes or Less: Wednesdays

Today’s blog moves onto cleaning in 30 minutes or less on Wednesdays. By now I hope you understand that I am not trying to tell you what to clean and when. Instead, I want you to see how by spreading things out and picking the best days to do these chores, you are making it easier and quicker to clean.

On Wednesdays I only do my quick wipe down in the kitchen because this is the day that I focus on deep cleaning my bathroom. Since it takes just a couple of minutes to do my kitchen routine, it leaves me with at least 26 to 27 minutes to do the bathroom.

Deep cleaning my bathroom in that amount of time is easily done because of the fact that I consistently focus on this room every Wednesday. It is also because I maintain it throughout the week with my quick wipe downs.

This brings me to another important point when it comes to housekeeping. Maintenance is the key. You can spend time cleaning but if you don’t maintain throughout the week, you are going to find yourself in the position of having to spend more time cleaning than is necessary.

It’s the same thing with decluttering. If you declutter a room but don’t maintain it, then it will go right back to where it was. Since the kitchen and bathroom tend to collect the most germs, I also find that maintaining them is healthier.

Now when I say that I deep clean my bathroom, this is the one day of the week I use my chemicals. Try as I might, I can’t break away from my bleach when it comes to the bathroom. I know it’s not the most earth friendly and the smell can be harsh, but it is ingrained in me that bleach means cleanliness. So forgive me.

Using a mixture of bleach and water I thoroughly wipe down the sink, toilet, bathtub and floor. I can easily get this done in about 20 minutes. That leaves me time to quick dust the light fixtures and since I do this on a weekly basis, they are easy to do.

There you have it…in 30 minutes or less I am done.
