Veggie Tales releases the latest DVD, Robin Good and His Not So Merry Men, on Tuesday, March 6. The news of the release of any Veggie Tales DVD gets me sentimental. For the past ten years, my family has enjoyed Veggie Tales. We were first introduced to it when my oldest was about four years old. My two older kids have seen just about every Veggie Tales out on the market. My younger two are still trying to catch up. I love that Veggie Tales has not changed a bit over the years and still appeals to children. Veggie Tales was colorful, adorable, engaging, with important lessons taught in a creative and imaginative ways then as it is today. They have not resorted to any new tactics to appeal to the audience as much as keep the same winning formula and simplicity they are known for. The humor is appealing to all ages and not because there are undertones of “adult” humor but because it is just plain funny.
If your preschooler has not been introduced to Veggie Tales, I highly recommend it. The lessons are biblical and presented in a relevant and understandable fashion to young children. Throughout my years of being in the children’s ministry at church, I have yet to see a child not fall in love with the adorable Veggie Tale characters.
Our Favorite Veggie Tales:
King George and the Duckie: This one will always have a special place in our hearts because it was the first Veggie Tale movie we saw. The story is a take off of David and Bathsheba.
Madame Blueberry: Another of our first impressions of Veggie Tales. The tale of greed as it pertains to a blueberry….Madame Blueberry. It will surely quench your child’s desire to own all the toys in the land.
Esther: Since Esther is one of my favorite books of the bible, I knew it would be winner with me. It is my 6 year old daughter’s favorite.
It just so happens, you can purchase all three on Royalty Collection Trio for only $14.99. I happen to know that because I purchased it to replace our old scratched up and worn out DVDS.
