How to Clean Bathroom Tiles

If your home comes complete with authentic tiles in the bathroom, then you know that it can be a difficult process to remove dirt and mildew from the grout. Because bathrooms are usually damp, mildew tends to worm easily in between the tiles. Once there is one layer of mildew, the dirt and additional mildew continues to build up until the wall is one giant mildew bed.

Dirt also is attracted to many tiles and is difficult to remove, no matter how hard you try. Typically, most people choose to simply wipe dirt away or spray it with a cleansing agent, but few people realize how simple and easy keeping the bathroom tiles clean can be.

First, cleaning the tiles must be a routine built into the everyday. First, the tiles need to be kept free from mold and mildew-inducing items, such as food, plants and beverages. If the tiles are not kept clean, they run the risk of being overly susceptible to the mold and mildew.

In addition to keeping surfaces clean, it is important to follow all daily showers and baths with a sprits of an everyday mildew-removing agent. These cleansing agents are available in most drugstores and home improvement stores. Many people simply keep the cleaning agents in or around their showers for quick and easy daily access.

If you do not wish to spray your tile with a harsh cleansing agent, then consider the use of a lemon and/or vinegar mixture blended with water. This mixture will help to cut grease and dirt as effectively as store-bought products. Simply mix the ingredients together in a spray bottle and sprits it on the tile surface at least once a day after using the shower or bathtub.

When going into the bathroom for a deep cleaning session, it is important that you go prepared. You should expect to have to deep clean your tiles and grout at least once a month. During the cleaning session, use a harsh chemical cleanser that will strip away dirt. Let the cleanser sit on the surface of the tiles for several minutes before you use a scrub brush. To truly remove dirt and mildew back up, you will need to use a durable scrub brush and a lot of elbow grease. Follow the scrubbing by wiping the tile clean with a damp cloth to remove residual dirt.

If you find that after repeated attempts, you still cannot obtain a fully clean set of bathroom tiles, then you may want to consider alternative means. There are two popular alternative means to choose from. The first is hiring a tile power washer to come to your home to perform a deep clean with specialized tile cleansing tools. This process is generally good for individuals with very dirty tiles or if your tiles seem to require more frequent cleaning. In the least, youro tiles should be power washed once every few years.

You can also simply paint over existing tiles with a special water resistance paint. The water resistant paint mimics the texture and durability of the tiles, but gives off a cleaner, more refined look for your bathroom.
