Summer Preparations

After a very mild winter and what is shaping up to be a very pleasant spring, we have caught a severe case of summer fever. We would not have minded a more wintry winter or a more rainy spring (there’s still time for that), but with all this nice weather we are just itching to enjoy some summer activities. So while the temperatures are still mild we are making preparations for some good summer fun.

I first realized that we might have an early start to summer when my daughter did not grow out of her zero to three month clothes; they got too warm. The next day I loaded the kids into the car and headed to our local kids consignment shop. I bought several summery dresses for my daughter and several short sleeved shirts for my son.

We are already planning on taking several trips to the zoo and a local turn of the century farm and of course spending lots of time at the park. On one of our oddly warm days we ventured to the park and both my son and I were disappointed that it was too early in the season for the wading pool to be open. However, the closed wading pool got me thinking about going to the pool this summer. I started doing research on all the local pools, which do not open until the first of June, and I decided to buy a season pass for the local pools. Of course the prospect of swimming propelled me towards getting together some fun swimming gear and buying my daughter her first swimming suit! I was able to find a pretty pink bathing suit with long sleeves and a hood on sale at my favorite baby boutique!

We still have a lot more preparations but we are getting excited for the long days of summer that are just around the corner!
